Wasp season ! Stronger stuff ?

We have/ had a wasps nest in the garden in a hole in a railway sleeper on edge along a flower border. I tried a wasp spray over several days then a wasp powder puffer. Each time they were back within a few days. Today I called in a professional - he was here for 10 minutes, most of the time putting his kit on and getting his sprayer ready. He did a couple of squirts into the nest hole and that was it and took £50 . The wasps have stopped ( for now ?).
Do these guys have stronger stuff than the retail sprays and powders ?

You can get a spray foam which covers the best and kills everything in it , just using a spray will only kill those it hits , there will be many away from the nest .

The guy that did ours used ant powder in the same way you described as it killed the wasps in the nest & any returning ones.

A squirt of ant powder, obtained for around £2 at the supermarket will do the same.

However, were they causing you harm?
You can leave them alone you know, they will eat all the aphids and pollenate your plants.

Agreed, I rarely destroy wasps nests anymore. Once while picking caterpillars off the brassicas a wasp grabbed a large caterpillar and struggled off up into the air , very impressive what weight they can carry.
