Hi all

I am hoping to redo the cloakroom soon, and intending to hide the pipes in the wall. We have insulated plasterboard fixed to a block wall (not sure how its fixed though) then tiled over.

My intention is to 'chase' the insulation behind the plasterboard to expose the blocks, then fix the copper water pipes (soldered) to the wall then expanding foam it in flush, before tiling. I did this with the shower pipes and its all ok, and reasonable to get to if needs be - easier than concreting the pipes in anyway.

Can i also do the same with the 32mm waste pipe? It looks as though i have room to chase into the blocks slightly, then foam in the same way. Its the brackets that are the issue here - meaning i would need to go into the blocks. If i don't use the brackets, i can just fit in the chase, and foam in. Will this hold the pipe ok? There will be some joins, but will be solvent welded so hopefully ok?

For info, the plasterboard and insulation are around 40mm and the walls are 100mm block.

Thanks

Many thanks - would galvanised clout nails into the blockwork at angles be ok - like you do with with conduit? Ok to then foam them in?
