Waste on the left 40 internal, trap on the right 41mm external.

Trap doesn't fit inside waste by 1mm. Assumed it was a imperial-metric problem so I bought a new one. Same problem.

Is this a faulty waste or do i need some kind of coupler?

what is the waste from ? is it a kitchen sink? if so it may be a import and you have to use the trap they sell.

What is it you are connecting, shower base, sink, bath? Can't really tell from the pics

Would say that the waste is at fault then. I would change it for a standard bath waste with overflow pipe. I don't know of ant adaptors available

file ( rasp ) the spigot on the trap - after removing the o ring

Force it, it will fit.

Had same problem with supplied sink waste with new sink.

What a gigantic ball-ache

I sanded the waste and trap for about 90 mins and it fits now. FYI it's a Wirquin Quick Clac Pop up Bath Waste and i used a regular P trap, a Wirquin bath trap wouldn't have fit with the access available. Wouldn't recommend this POS. Waste of time.
