When my washing machine is emptying, some of the water goes back into the sink. I've had my kitchen sink unit and floor soaked on more than one occasion and when the plumber comes from the Council, they say that it's normal for some of the water to back up into the sink. I think they are pulling a fast one. I would be grateful for some feedback :)

It isn't unusual to get a bit of water backing up into the sink now and again. Usually down to a blockage in the wastepipe somewhere.

Thank you for your reply. :) I'm going to have a chat with the plumber tomorrow and suggest this to him.

Having just re-read your opening post, no way should it fill the sink to overflowing onto the floor!

I agree, but trying to tell them that is another matter. I feel it would not be an easy job and this is why I've been palmed off.

Not normally that complicated to sort out. Either way, it indicates that the water in the sink isn't draining properly anyway.

Was it very cold when the plumber came round - maybe he didn't fancy working outside  The big girl's blouse ;)

It actually was very cold that day... *big girl's blouse*... hahaha!
Glad to know that it should be easily remedied.
Thanks :)

All Council Houses don`t have outside wastes /soils...they are on the old houses that people have bought, because they are better built. ;) And the Councils employ subbies from all sorts of firms now too.
