Hi all, some help please, I have 2 water features 1 solar pump dc6v-9v, 1 mains through a transformer 12v. Due to the lack of sunshine I am thinking of changing the solar one to mains transformer, I would like to wire both into a single transformer in the shed, therefore into one socket, as is the mains one now. any help in plain english PLEASE would be very much appreciated. 2) Add up the power requirements of the two 12V pumps.

3) Buy a 12V power supply which can deliver the total amount, plus, say, 50%.

Hi ban-all-sheds, thanks for that, mainly makes sense, just one thing if I run 2 x 12 volt pumps from a 12volt plus transformer, will that be big enough to run 2 pumps ?. cheers, Reg

You don't want >12V, that will destroy the pumps.

You want a 12V one capable of supplying the total power (in W) required by the two pumps, with some headroom.

So, if one pump is 20 watts and the other is 15 watts, you need a pump that can deliver 35watts plus 50%, so lets say 50watts or more.

Does that make sense......?

Remember the wattage rating will be the running curent. It will be more when the pump starts, and you'll have two pumps firing up at the same time.........
