Hi, i live in South East of England and the water isn't the best and pretty harsh too. We have never tried any water filter or purifier systems or anything other similar type product to get cleaner liquids in for drinking/bathing/etc. For drinking we currently get mineral water and have a standalone filter which is fed manually from the tap. Our biggest concerns being some of our family members have very sensitive skin and we're of the strong opinion that our home water is one of the culprits.

We're now looking for a more simpler solution with water cleaning systems for our main taps/showers/bath. I have no idea what to look for, what is commonly used nowadays and which company to trust to get everything spot on without charging an absolute bomb. Any recommendations would be highly appreciated. I would also appreciate additional notes on maintenance, costs of supplies, alternative methods, etc... any info for a newbie!

thanks in adv.

Sensitive skin is an interesting topic.
My mother in law struggles with most things like soap and deodorant for years and she just found out she has low vitamin D with can cause these problems. Maybe...
I myself suffer from MI preserver that's in many products so look out for Methylchloroisothiazolinone (mi)
Some tack that is! Common allergy that one.
As for water filters in houses I've been around a few and never had a problem myself. I think the crystals work well to clean the water.
You just service the filter as required..

I live in a hard water area, and an ion-exchange water softener makes it kinder to skin, with far less soap or detergent needed.

Towels, flannels, clothes and sheets ard also softer and more absorbent as the embedded limescale and soap scum are washed away, and less washing powder is needed, and no fabric softener. Mine also contains a sand bed that traps particles such as rust or grit in the pipes, and is rinsed clean during regeneration.

In this house it cured skin sensitivity, but I don't know if that is always the case. It certainly rinses soap and other product off the skin much better.

Note that a water softener contains a synthetic resin that absorbs the calcium from the water. The resin is periodically regenerated using salt. It does not add salt to the tapwater.

There are also devices sold which claim to alter the character of the water by magnetism or magic. These work in the same way that a copper bracelet cures arthritis, or a drop of purified water cures disease. See https://www.howdoeshomeopathywork.com/
