I have recently had my boiler changed to a combi type and am now gwtting water hammer when I turn off any of the taps. I note in your tips that one cure for the problem is to fit some form of shock absorber. Could you advise where I could obtain one of these.

Get rid off air in pipework. Usually trapped in remote end. Try running all taps in turn. With cold water tank in attic can have oscillation causing ballcock to rapidly open & close when almost full.

With a combi boiler there is not cold water storage or feed & expansion tank. All taps run ok.

Sorry did not solve problem by running taps but air trapped somewhere! If you are sure not in pipework perhaps in boiler on hotwater side?
