In replacing some lead pipe, we are installing some MDPE blue plastic pipe under the floor (mains). Going from 15mm copper to the 20mm blue plastic, I have used a 15mm-1/2" F (brass) to a 1/2"M- 20mm (plastic) connection. The only joint giving trouble is the 1/2 bsp - I have wound lots of PTFE tape around the male thread (plastic) which goes into the brass female and tightened as much as I dare.

After about 15-20 second a little bead of water emerges at the joint. I have re-done with even more ptfe and it won't seal. What am I doing wrong ?
Can I get different fitting 15mm copper to 20mm plastci blue pipe ?
