can anyone identify why water leaking through this part (on the interior between threshold and cill) of the newly installed composite door? And how to rectify it.
Couple of things you need to check, in your picture i've hightlighed two areas, the blue arrow should point to a slot, one each side, does your door have slots here? The second black arrow points to another area where a slot MIGHT be, again one each side, do you have a slots in the blue or black areas?
The blue blob indicates a bead of silicone ran along the top of the cill before the door is placed on it to stop this exact thing, thing is you probably can't tell if it was done or not now, to do now the door will need to be removed
thank you for reply.
the threshold have two drainage slots where the blue arrow pointing and its working fine (we've poured some water to see where its going), but at the same time its accumulating at the joint as I've shown on the picture, no idea from where this water coming from. Some suggest that no silicone should be placed between threshold and cill, so water can run down? However, what you saying seams reasonable, just dreading all this door removal .
Hello crank,
this is an update,
we have done as you suggested and this is what we found, the end of the door frame on both sides at the bottom are open, so not all the water that slides from the door front ends up getting out of the drainage holes at the bottom, but travels to the sides and ends up on the PVC Sill. After that the water penetrates the concrete sill on the inside.
1. is it supposed to be oped or you think its a completely wrong and we should ask the company for a new frame?
2. do you think it will be ok if we're to seal it with silicone?
