Water leaking from pipe above Megaflo cylinder

Hi, new here with no plumbing idea and need help.
I've noticed a slow drip on the pipe above the boiler (cylinder) and a blue/green puddle on the boiler (cylinder) from where it's dripping. Also some weird foam like thing on the pipe.

Please see pictures attached.

Does anyone know what this could be and how I'd fix the issue?

Looks like someone has had difficulty trying to seal that joint previously ,judging by the presence of PTFE tape showing.

Ok, you have the tools.

You would need to tighten the nut, place spanner on the nut and a spanner on the flat sides of the lever valve, You would then need to hold the spanner on the lever valve tightly and then pull towards you on the other spanner, being careful to have the same pressure on both spanners. Only turn it slightly.

Wait till the DIYers see this thread. Then it will be game on starting with installer of that cylinder should be tarred and feathered followed by stoning in the town square. Never mind that will be no use to the poster in getting a suitable Response.

I've tighten it a bit and seems to have stopped the drip. Thanks for the help.

Another question, what should I do/not do about the blue/green dried up stuff on the top and sides of cylinder (pics attached)?

How easy was it to tighten was it quite loose?

Looks like you might be in a very hard water area, that looks like limescale/CaCl2 by the looks of the corrosion on the copper. Do you have a water softener? Just clean it up with a limescale cleaner and a green pad.

Another thought is why there is actually a valve on that side of the unvented with the lever still attached. Not exactly wrong but it shouldn't be needed, there should be a stop tap/valve on the inlet side.

Quite common to have a valve there, you get immediate hot water isolation opposed to wasting hot water waiting for the pressure inside the cylinder to drop with only isolating the cold water inlet valve,
also isolating the valve on the hot water outlet you would still get balanced cold water at the basin mixer taps in the bathrooms if any work was ever getting done on the hot supply pipework.

Have to disagree there ... I certainly wouldn't say it's common and I've serviced more than I care to remember, I'd never fit an isolation valve on the outlet, just another valve for the the user to play with, on an unvented system .

The amount of hot water wasted @ depressurising is very little IME and to be honest any balanced cold wouldn't probably be used anyway (brushing teeth maybe) as invariably it would be on a shower/bathroom mixer and the other colds would normally be from the mains.
