This is the endpoint of a roof beam beneath a plastic roof valley (the dark grey strip). You can see it appears to be soaked in water on its lower half. I believe the water is dripping off the plastic surface and soaking into the beam. (white membrane feels dry to touch). I'm confident this is condensation, not a leak. But I don't want to leave this unchecked as I think it might rot the beam over time.
I have a 2-part plan to fix it, the first is to install lap vents in the membrane above it. Second is to insulate the plastic surface with superfoil bubble wrap.
My question is around the urgency, how drastic is this, will it be something that will rot away within months, do I need to panic? I know it will dry when the weather warms up.
