Water on the Moon

Is it just me or does anyone else think this is the biggest non-story in weeks certainly not important enough to justify the coverage it's getting?

So bl**dy what! Even if we could exploit the water for useful purposes we'd bankrupt the Earth's natural resources doing it. Clearly a topic for Nasa, anyone with a research grant riding on it, and the Buck Rogers brigade. Someone's got a really good PR department  ....

Perhaps it's not Water but actually 'Whey' that they've discovered! :D

There's people in Africa etc that are in desperate need of water. Instead of spending/wasting "crazy money" looking for water on the moon  , they should be lookng for new sources of fresh water here on earth.

Its the potential that water on the moon offers ... If it means we can colonise it at some point then we could turn it into a f*** off great penal colony ... Dirt cheap as there's no need for guards, just dump the retrobates in the water and fly home.

Course it would be cheaper simply to hang them, or electrocute them or even pay for a nice peaceful drug to dispatch them.

if they can stop arguing that is, thing is much has been said about the advantages of converting it to oxygen or turning it into rocket fuel but what about the fact that the astronauts can now have a bath!

we could send our olympic swimmers there they'd really benefit from all that high altitude training.

There's a few oceans full, would that do for a couple of years?

Fairly simple to get the salt out.
But it's a very expensive way to treat water. And the end product will be far different to what you are used to. Ever wondered why it is that this country is surrounded by water by we don't get our water by using osmosis?

Not so much at the african coast where there is wind, solar and tidal energy in abundance.

As they are used to having no water, or crap water, that won't be a problem in africa.

I never wondered about that, because it is blatantly obvious.
