Hi all,

I've just dug 5 concrete pad holes (450mm square) yesterday and found water standing on them at a depth of about 1 inch after i put the concrete in, i made a 1:8 mix for footings and 3 of the holes (after about an hour or so) seemed to dry out and looked ok so i expected the other 2 to do the same but this morning i've checked them and they're all under water (about 2 inches) as it's rained last night ?
Am i ok to leave them or should i try and remove the standing water and then cover them over a bit ?

Thanks

Don't worry about the water- concrete cures better when its damp, depending how deep your pads are you might want to water them every day for a week or so.
Do cover them up- hessian is the usual, anything to stop them actually freezing.
1:8 of what?
