I was wondering if anyone could advise on the best course of action (and estimates of costs involved) with a leak we have just noticed.
We moved into a new house about 6 months ago, and haven't had any problems up until the last week when we noticed a large brown water stain in our airing cupboard. The airing cupboard has two sides, divided by a partition. On one side of the partition the airing cupboard is backed by part of our roof which slopes. The other side of the airing cupboard is at the very edge of this sloping section which makes up part of the side of the airing cupboard, and ths part of the cupboard is backed by a straight wall slightly beneath roof which slopes in a perpendicular direction to the main roof. The water marks are all on this side. There is a large patch at the back (on the section which is flat wall), a patch running down the sloping wooden beam making up the side of the cupboard edging the sloping part of the roof, and possibly some more marks at the flat top of the cupboard.
We are trying to figure out where this is coming from, and whether it is something we would need to call a roofer for, or someone else. The roof is about 50 years old and there is nothing obviously wrong with it from the outside. It looks like this may have been an issue before we noticed as when we looked with a torch it looks like the area has been painted over by the seller.
Any advice on the best course of action/who to call out/what kind of cost we would be looking at would be greatly appreciated.
