I've just got one of these and from past experience I know that they do leak over time. How can I best waterproof it properly? It is all plastic of course and so fixing is the main issue. Shed felt is a no-no, I presume.

I don't think they leak, (I've got 3 and had them over 5 years with no leak issues), however I do think they can suffer from condensation which people mistake for leaks.
You could try a dry granule de-humidifier and see if that helps to keep it dry inside.

I've had one from lidl for over 10 years and it doesn't leak.
Where's yours leaking from?
Or are you just worried that it may leak one day?
