Waterproofing thermalites advice

Hi, I'm building our garage/ bedroom extension, ground floor is brick first floor is in thermalites as existing first floor is an acrylic render, it's going to be a while before it is rendered and with the weather where having the blocks are getting saturated, is there anything I can put on the help waterproof them, I was thinking of silka 1waterproofer, will doing this have any affect on the adhesion of the render at a later date, thanks.

ok so you have bear breeze blocks on show??? and you want to water proof them for the winter?

question 1 are you planning on using a sand/cement render on the lot for a finishor a monocouche render or even more silicone render.

question 2 are you planning to hack off the thin coat render(bucket coat/silicone render) and start agen from scratch.

Right so if your planning on re rendering the lot with sand/cement then hack off the old render and just scratch coat the lot you can use waterproofer frost proofer in the mix that will help keep the water out for now but remember its only one coat on the blocks so youed want to finish it sooner rather then later you could even use SBR in the mix only need a dash.

or you could hack off and SBR slurry coat the lot with a well loades heavy pile roller this will help keep the water out and give a good KEy for the new render.

one more way to skin a cat is to iif your using a monocouche or bucket coat render agen hack off and get the base coat on it all systems on light weight blocks will need a base coat there normaly water resistant noth is 100% water tight till its finished

Hi, the existing finish on existing house is staying on and I'm wanting to match it on the new extension, the existing is a coloured base coat of around 10mm and is finished with what looks like tiny little chippings that have been sprayed on, it's not monocouche coz I've done a couple of little jobs with that, I don't think it's tyrolean as I say when you get close up they are minute chippings, it's not going to be rendered until around March so want to waterproof till then. What do yous reckon the existing render type could be, what waterproofing would yous recommend going with,

Steve gives options above. His third one would include KRend HPX trowel led on and keyed with scratcher or roller. You can also bed mesh into this if needed.
