Got a table that I want to sand down but it is covered in a layer of protective wax. Everytime I use a sanding sheet, it sands a bit but then the sheets are clogged with the wax and it stops sanding.
Any ideas how I can remove the wax layer without going through a shed load of sheets?
I'm trying to keep it as cheap as possible as I want to sell the table, just repairing some water damage areas.

You could try a scraper to remove the wax , before sanding down. ;) ;)

The wax is kind of melted into the wood surface though isn't it?
Scraping it won;t remove much I don't think.
Could I run an iron over with a kitchen towel underneath?

I used paint stripper to remove wax from floor before varnishing, scrapes off easily.

Dr - use a cabinet scraper!!! If you apply heat to the waxed surface you'll drive the stuff INTO the wood, even if you 'blot' as you go. As your table top is flat you'll find scraping dead easy to do, then sand.

When I moved into my present house the previous owners had all the doors dipped and then they had applied wax ... it was horrible. The doors were dismounted, laid on bench, and scraped. All the wax came off. Sanding, filling, etc. etc. then painted - they look lovely. I used a couple of cabinet scrapers* whose edges I ensured were correctly prepared (burred over) resulting in tissue thin slithers of wax then wood surface being removed.

I ground one of them to match the profile of the ogee beading around the field panels; the other was left rectangular for dealing with the flat surfaces.
