What's the minimum thickness WBP ply i can use over the existing 22mm tongue/groove? I need to tile bathroom floor but not have too big a step-up into it from the landing.
Most adhesive manufacturers recommend 15mm but most of the guys on here use 12mm for overboarding.
I have been using 6mm backerboards on jobs for quite a while now and have had no problems.
if you're totally confident there is no deflection in the floor, use 6mm hardibacker, attach with flexible adhesive and drywall screws max 300 centres. If not and you need to strengthen the floor, although 15mm ply is recommended, it's virtually impossible to source so pro tilers use 12mm min.
Remember to follow tile adhesive manuf instructions re sealing the ply.
