Hi all - first posting - got a new wc fitted (by a 'jack of all trades etc') but flush doesn't work without heavy handed action - make is Derwent & Macdee. 'Jack' doesn't know the answer and has not/no longer got any installation instructions which may have been with the unit when delivered. Can't find a manufacturer website - anybody got any suggestions?

what type of flush is it handle or push button

handle type it could just be that the ball valve is not filling the cistern to the water level line. or you could have a faulty syphon.

And if it is the push button type then he might have cut the shaft on the button a fraction too short (in addition to the possibilities Taydo mentions)

Sounds like you are talking about levers though.

Lift the lid off the toilet and check if it is filling all the way to the water level line.
