Hey I'm a general labourer I've been looking on like for work using gumtree.com and mr-skill.co.uk

has anyone used these before?

yes kind of and get paid about the same as you would pay your mum house keep.

I registered with a couple of online agencies. They don't take a cut of your money when you start work, but specialise on various trades.

You email your details in, and they forward your info onto companies, infact I just went for an interview from one of these agencies, and have gained work in the past from these.

But avoid the larger, advertised agencies, use smaller specialised agencies. It's the boss of the agency that rang me last week, the interview went well, so fingers crossed!

What does a 'general labourer' do?

Not prance around in a hi viz and safety harness looking like a Village people reject for a start Carries a few tools - has a shovel that shines like you could see in it to shave . Knows how to cut holes in masonry . Knows how to gauge and mix different compo and concrete. Knows what 3-4-5 and a bit of string will lay out cuts and cleans a neat trench. Blows up the wheelbarrow tyre while @ the petrol station. Takes an interest in the trade he`s partnering . Nah he don`t exist any more
