Weed barrier vs breathable mebrane

Hi I need to lay some gravel and have about 40m left over of roof breathable membrane, can I use that for ground weed control instead of the normal weedb control sheets.

No reason not to give it a go, but it won't pass rainwater through in the same way that weed membrane will. This could lead to an excess of water around the edges, or even affect any trees that have roots extending to the covered area.

You could possibly poke holes in it, or cut slits in it and double it up.

You will still get weeds growing on and through the stones over time.

Thanks Deluks, think put loads of slits in, I wont use it elsewhere so give it a go with plenty of slits, thanks man.

I found a scrappy old bit in the weeds at the end of my garden, certainly been there a few years.
No noticeable signs of deterioration.
