Is there anyone out there qualified to inform me of the residue left in the ground after weeds have been killed? I have a problem with bind weed, my wife tells me to use a weedkiller will leave dangerous residues in the soil. Since it seems glyphosphate is the basis of most weed killers whatever.

The instructions on the bottle/package will tell you how long its active for and whether to use it on crops etc. I believe the best thing for bindweed is manual removal but watch out for little bits being left.

Google says…..
Get a bunch of stems of the bindweed and stick them in the bottle and use tape to seal the entrance. Over a couple of weeks the stems should 'drink' the glyphosate and spread it all throughout the root system of the plant and nuke the entire thing.

Glyphosate becomes inactive quite quickly when it hits the soil

Glyphosate is absorbed by the leaves.

There is some concern around long term environmental impact in relation to food, but for home gardening it’s not an issue.

If you need a reasonable amount, buy agricultural strength from eBay / Amazon under the brand names Rosate or Gallop. Use it in a sprayer at 25ml per litre of water.

Bindweed is extremely difficult to remove by manual weeding, the white roots spread everywhere and it reshoots from just a small piece of root
