Weight Bearing Filler, Does it exist??

Hi,

I have recently moved in to a new house and the curtain poles and attachments have been pulled off the walls leaving nasty holes.

I want to fill these with weight bearing filler so I can drill back in to it later and hang some new curtains nicely without having to put the pole attachments is crazy places.

Can anyone please tell me what is the best way for me to do this and iff you can even get weight bearing filler ??

The bearing load will of course be subject to the substrate it is in contact / or bonded to, canna change the laws of physics!

I Know that lol, I was just hoping to get some advice as to the best filler to buy so I can drill it to it after it has set and hang the curtains from

Hmm, best.... depends... resin fix I guess... that's not gonna move any time soon, or just drill plug and screw as normal... you can't stick anything onto plaster and expect a good fixing, it has to be mechanical.

You don't want to take any sort of curtain pole related advice from EddieM....the last curtain rail he put up wasn't straight and the cat managed to pull it down in a couple days!

it's not wildly inaccurate, didn't go quite as well as planned!! bloody cat!!!

It might be that it will be better to fix a thin strip of timber along the top of the window allowing you to fix/glue to undamaged plaster. Then you can paint it to blend in and attach your curtain fixings as needed.

I was going to suggest putting a baton up too!..great minds. ..etc etc hahaha

Only issue with a baton is it doesn't look very nice.

Multi finish plaster is pretty strong when set, but you would need to pack it in well!

Can you fill, and fit the new rail at a different height, or distance out from the window?

If you paint the baton the same colour as the wall it will blend in..

I would fill that with plaster, will be nice and strong.

A baton, whilst functional, looks crap, even when painted.

Just wondering what you went with in the end?? I find myself in a very similar situation with a tenant pulling the radiator off the wall and I need to put it back up. Holes looks exactly the same as the ones you have. Thanks!

What is your wall made of? there is sure to be a solution, but filler is not it.
