Hey,

Im looking to invest in a fruit machine to sit on my 2nd floor of my semi detatched house.

It will weigh somethig between 110kg (242lbs) to 130kg (286lbs).

My house was built in 1909 however, so i dont know how much weight my 2nd levels floor is going to hold.

I thought i might ask for someones expertise before i ended up with a potential hole in my floor hehe!

Cheers

Chris

treat it like an iron bath

put a couple of timber bearers underneath the feet to spread the load over 3 or more joists (laid crossways to the joists). Or a piece of 25mm ply spanning the joists.

position it near a wall where the ends of the joists are supported (not in the middle of a room)

not by a fireplace or removed chimneybreast where the joists might have been trimmed off
