Keep up JBR. Parliament voted against the PM's motion for intervention just a little while ago. That was the watered down "we'll vote again before actual action" motion. Tossed out on its ear and rightly so given the timescale the PM was trying to push originally and the subsequent backpedalling yesterday.

Maybe the MPs were a little bit worried by the amount of constituent mails they have received along the lines of not getting voted in again if they support it. But whatever the reason for the decision not to support the motion - it's the right decision at this point.

It is indeed good news. Of course it does not prevent another motion being presented for voting on - but having recalled Parliament from their summer hols (seriously are they still at school?) on this and having it voted out, the PM's impetus has been completely deflated. Early indications are that a lot of Labour MPs didn't show, so that rejection was a clear message from the PM's own party and the LibDems.

Quite honestly, my ghast is flabbered - I was expecting the vote to pass despite everything.

As for Blair - does his sleep matter to anyone?

Not one bit.
The united nations should have a secret service department similar to mossad which tracks down and jails tyrants like bliar and strips them of their wealth.

Probably no deterrent but at least people would know they are actively being hunted and stand a good chance of ending their days in a jail.
