Hi.

I was hoping to get opinions on the effectiveness of the low profile wet Ufh. Does it compare well against a full wet Ufh install in the traditional way?

We are a mid terrace and planning a side return extension (not DIY). The existing kitchen floor is tiles on a solid slab (we think). We have discussed doing a full wet Ufh system in what will be the new kitchen area. So this would mean digging down a lot of the floor in the existing kitchen area, and potentially quite expensive.

Someone has suggested that a wet slimline Ufh could just be laid on top of the existing floor in the kitchen area (and the new extension area also), rather than digging down, and this could save quite a bit of money. The compromise here is some height added to the floors.

I am potentially ok with the floor height being raised a bit but wondering if the low profile is effective. Would it be advisable investing the cash for the full wet Ufh by digging out the old floor? - is digging out an existing floor usually a costly exercise?

Is there any point in doing some kind of compromise. I.e. removing the tiles but not digging up all of the concrete slab?

Thanks in advance for any help.
