Hi if I have 8 cores per zone what would you recommend doing with the spare ones, twist back on the outer sheath or cut flush with the outer sheath ?
Thanks
When I was doing wiring I'd coil the spares either around the wanted wires or coil around a screwdriver shaft and leave 'hanging' inside the terminal block. If the wanted wires are tied into a form then I'd also include the spares into the form.

ISTR that wiring standards say that unused cores within a cable should really be grounded.
That way they cannot be susceptible to stray interference and re radiate it.
Although what the alarm guys do is probably something completely different.
I completely agree with keeping them with long tails for future use though.
