What cars............?

What cars have you had in the past that have been a nightmare and you have always had to put your hand in your pocket to keep it on the road.?

My bad experiences have been with 2 Ford Escorts (1985 ish) that have put me off for life.

I seem to remember the one Escort costing a bomb to get through the MOT (welding, brakes etc) and the other one kept blowing out the oil dipstick and spraying the engine with oil!

Never buy Ford again!!!!!!

H reg (89) nissan micra. Very very basic car. Choke was knackered, so to stop it cutting out on startup I had to sit in it for about 2 minutes with the revs up slightly. Only had it for about a year. Final straw was when the gearbox caved in. First went first. Then second packed in on the way to the dealers. Fun driving it in 3rd!!! They gave me £100 for it in part ex

Used to have a MKII Escort.
Cost a packet to keep on the road. Mate who did the repairs used to say, "You're never bored with a Ford." Certainly kept him in beer money.
Ran it into the ground then PX'd it for an Astra. After seeing the Astra and getting a price for the essie we kept it for a week till the paperwork was sorted. Just crested the bridge on the way to pick up the Astra and there was an almighty bang and clattering from the engine compartment. Switched engine off and coasted down the hill and into the dealers. Guy came out, walked all round to make sure I hadn't "dented it over the past week," then we went inside and done the paperwork.
Next day get a phone call, "This car won't start. Whats wrong with it?"
"How should I know? I drove it onto your parking area yesterday and it was alright."
"Sorry, the deal is off. Its not in the same condition as when we inspected it last week."
"Yes it was, you said so yourself yesterday."
"But we didn't check the engine yesterday."
"I didn't go for another test drive yesterday and the paperwork says, 'bought as seen'. I took a chance just like you did. Want your car back take me to court but I think its fair to warn you first, I work for the CAB so know my rights."
Phone went dead.
