On my MCB I have two fuses, which I presume are active, but I'm unsure what they are for.

On the non RCD protected I have;

Cooker
Fridge/Freezer
Upstairs lights
*Unsure
Downstairs lights
Available slot with no fuse

Front half of house sockets
Back half of house sockets

The only things I can think of are the shower pump and then the boiler/stat etc.

When I first moved in I turned everything off so never checked. I currently have no shower and there is no water going through the pump. Is it ok to turn the switch back on in the airing cupboard to see if I can work out if one of them is that?

What is the current rating on the circuit breakers you cannot identify?

This will be written in A (amps).

The 'fuses' you mention are (very likely) the MCBs which are in the Consumer Unit.

Anyway, the two could be spare if the rest are labelled.

That's what I meant.

Oh ok, I just assumed because there were MCB's in already, and a couple of slots didn't, that they would be active.

Bit too small to see, but typical things you haven't listed could include cooker, doorbell, immersion, central heating, outhouse. Or more sockets and lights.

As said before, there's a good chance nothing is connected to them, but best assume something is for the time being!

Pretty sure there's nothing with an A anywhere on them. Cooker is on there, doorbell is wireless, immersion could be along with central heating, no outhouse. Tested all the sockets and lights.

Judging by their position and the fact that there are no labels they probably are connected to something.

Is the left 6 and the right 32?

I think people may have confused you. What you're probably looking for a letter (probably 'B', or possibly 'C') followed by a number - typical ones being B6, B16, B20, B32, C6 etc. Any markings like those?

Kind Regards, John

Ahh ok. The missing left one is C6, and right one is B16.

There is a B16 on the right, but the one isolated is a C32.

I would check for connection first, if none there it's a no brainer, if there are some then a little investigation can be done. Other than that it is pointless, firking about!

So how do I check? Turn the power off and just pull out the MCB? And I should see some wiring coming in behind it?
