what classes as building footprint

Hi i'm applying for planning on my house, its in green belt so im aloud 40% increase. how ever i have a garage which is attatched to the house by a covered walk way about 1m wide.
I know a detached out building is not included in the origional size but as this it attatch will it be included?

If it's part of the first floor projection, you will find it is.

I've had a few jobs like this and everyone council I've had is different but the last one tried to say the garage wasn't included, then we said it was and supplied pictures of a covered walkway, and they then included it.

We used it as the basis for the 40% increase - the planner refused it, but we took it to appeal and won it with the appeal officer taking the garage as part of the overall original footprint.

Thanks, we've had so many differant opinions from achietects, planning consultants etc it seems to be just the opinion of the planning officer that counts!

hi wix, did your "cover walkway" have sides or was is just a roof?
