Hello group, I've just bought a second hand car with no tax on it, I don't have the V5 but I do have the green stub, the MOT and my new insurance document for the vehicle. I don't have the tax renewal form which is automatically posted out to the owner, so without this what do I need to get the car taxed, and can I use i
the vehicle to go to the post office to collect the disc?
Regards

Go in person to a post office that will tax cars, and they will give you the appropriate V form to fill in there and then. Take the MOT certificate and your certificate of insurance with you and you should walk away with your disc. You cant legally use the car without a disc displayed.

Cheers John, I'll give it a try, I'll let you know how I get on when I return.

Yep, worked John, good job I had the green slip off the V5, or was it as I'm now £200 poorer boo.

Much obliged Otto

Once your documents are in order, it's far easier to tax your car online.

I usually do Wotan, but on this occasion it wasn't feasbale. I agree, it is a lot less hassle applying online.
