Hi All,
I recently moved into a house built in the 1960s, it has a steep drive. I have the original drawings which show the drive make up as “6 inches hardcore and 3 inches washed scalpings.” There is no mention of a asphalt or tarmac type layer, but there must have been one of the scalpings would have migrated down the slope.
Now there is a thin asphalt type layer with a sand finish, it is very grippy but starting to break up.
Any thoughts on what this is and how old it is?
