What Happens If I Deviate From My Plans?

I am planning a log cabin build in the garden. Because I am within 2m of the boundary and I want to go 1/2m over 2.5m permitted development I have applied for planning permission.

They asked me to remove an additional lean-to I had at the rear, as well as decking at the front and a 1m canopy. I have submitted new plans with all these removed, but what is really getting me is the removal of the 1m roof canopy at the front, which I really loved. I am thinking of just leaving it on. What are your views on this?

Remove it from the plans, but build it afterwards?

It depends if a neighbour complains.

I've removed it from the plans. The neighbours don't mind. Do they generally come and have a look on completion?

Planning don't usually come round unless either a neighbour has complained, or the building inspector tips off his colleagues in planning.

(one of the many reasons for using private inspectors instead of LABC inspectors).

Nice idea. Unfortunately there is a massive concrete slab from the old garage, which to remove would be a tidy sum just in skips

A 6m square slab 150mm thick weighs about 16 tons. The last time I hired a 16ton roll on roll off skip it was 160 quid (but I do live oop noorth where things cost what they should)

You could Hire a digger plus pecker (the pecker might cost as much as the digger, alas. Last time I hired a digger it was 250 for the weekend, so was the pecker) and break it into big chunks, set it aside, dig slightly deeper, then throw it all back in the hole and smash it up with the pecker and bury it under the new slab... You've a better chance of being able to give the soil away than the concrete y see, if you haven't got anywhere else on site to spread it out and use it.
