What is animal worn device ?

Does anyone have any idea what this device is ? Two very similar items were found in a grass verge. old and dirty

Dis-assembling one reveal the electronics module which appears to be powered by induction via the coil.

There is a single contact behind the knurled retaining cap.

I suspect they might be devices that are worn by an animal and create a mild electric shock when the animal approaches an "invisible" fence. The fence being a buried wire carrying a current that activates the module's

I'd go with cat/dog flap opener too.

Is the bottom/inside the collar bit )the side that touches the animal) conductive?

IF there is no electrical contact inside the collar then I cannot see how an electrical charge can be passed to the animal.
More likely an rfid type circuit to allow something to open?

Still, we may never know.
