Why are the bricks white? Any reason besides decor/hide imperfections?

Mortar looks new?

Anything to be wary of here a buyer?

Is that expensive to make good?

It shouldn't be, but that assumes it's a simple joint repair, not more involved roof work if the roof is nearing life end.

Best get a survey done to advise.

Thanks - Roof is tiled (maybe from the 70s) so it’s the not original but obviously can’t say if it’s in good working order or not

I bought a house with painted walls at the back, it took me weeks of work to strip this unsuitable non breathable paint from a brick wall done by previous owners which was hiding badly deteriorated brickwork and terrible quality pointing.

It is the height of laziness to paint over a brick wall to hide imperfections instead of getting it repaired properly. That pointing being proud will make it a nightmare to get off as well.
