Hi I am in the process of putting up a new fence up, and removing the old one has allowed me to get into an area not normally accessible. There is about a one foot gap between my extension and next doors conservatory and I always get Ivy climbing up from the ground, all the way up the wall and then getting into the flat roof space causing the edging to be pushed out, basically causing damage.

In the past I climbed on my roof and leaned over as far as I dared and removed it. After doing that last time, I tried to spray what was left with a weedkiller. It seemed to make it wither a bit when I checked back a week later but the next time I looked months later it was strong as ever again.

I cannot normally get into the ground area here when the fence is up and so I have cleared it off the wall and pulled out as many roots as I can find, but I know it will come back after a while, it may take a while this time but it will be back I am sure, and I don't really want to have to remove fence panels etc if I can help it to get to it when it does.

So is there any very strong killer I can put on the ground that will stop anything growing for years or even for ever?

Should I spray the wall with it as well or is that silly?

I have got a tub of something called Sodium Chlorate. It has granules you add water to but I think I may have used this last time, cant really remember what I used for sure.

Any help appreciated

Any weedkiller with ammonium sulphamate works very well in this case.
