I have a drain hole on the edge of the top of my roof which receives a lot of rain water from the valleys between my and the adjacent house's roof. A vertical drain pipe then takes the drain water to ground level.
The hole gets blocked up with moss, twigs and general dirt so it needs unblocking every 6 months or so.
Unblocking is a simple job - I just need to push a stick through the blocked hole and voila (or rather glug, glug) and 3 gallons of collected dirty water shoots down the pipe like a rat up a drain pipe.
I thought that if I could clip a wire cup in the hole it might reduce the frequency of blockage as a temporary fix but I dunno what these wire cups are called.
