I’ve got internal french doors and a mortice knob which I turn a few times then I can open the door, but it’s gold and I’m slowly changing the gold handles to silver chrome so it has to go.

It’s about 35mm long, everything I’m finding at Screwfix, Toolstation etc is about 55mm and looks more like a handle rather than a little thumb turn.

I believe I may have found it online called a “rack bolt” but do places like Screwfix etc not sell them anymore?

Thanks

They are (available), though, or at least they are if you go to a proper ironmonger, locksmith or builder's merchants. B&Q is not a replacement for any if those - I always feel when I go to B&Q that I've walked into a giant DIY pound shop, until see the prices.

The bolt is called a star bolt or rack bolt (ERA amongst other lock manufacturers sell them as part of their range - Google "oval knob rack bolt key" to find mail order suppliers of the handle you want) and they have been around for decades, at least since the early 80s if not before. The knobs with a built-in star key are available separately, so you shouldn't need to replace the entire mechanism
