Its a roller cam and the hex is for compression adjustment, notice the dash/dot mark on the cam, that tells you where the highest point of the cam is, right now the cam is neutral and the highest point is facing upwards so you have 90 degress each way of adjustment, turning 90 degrees anti clockwise will increase compresion when closing because the dash or high point of the cam will be facing the gasket and the gap between them is narrower, 90 degrees clockwise and it loosens compression because the high point of the cam is facing away from the gasket
