Sorry to be a little bit vague but I was cleaning my uncles oil fed rayburn the other day but cannot find where a angled bit of thin plate about 20cm long goes, I noticed it had fallen on top of the burner and retrieved it when I took the burner out, I put it to one side thinking I'll find its rightful place once I had finished but I just can't work it out!

It looks a bit like the one on the photo with one side longer than the other, please tell me where would it go?

Which model Rayburn?
There are quite a number right from of22 to current models installation manuals readily available on line.
Some on Aga/Rayburn own site others on Harworth heating site.

Sorry only just seen this reply thanks. Not sure as there isn't anything else to go by. I did manage to get a photo of the actual part though...

As before really need model can be anything from 60 year old wick burner to a current twin burner pressure jet.
That looks more like previous to latter though!

I should have said it is just a gravity fed oil fed Rayburn with twin wicks and at a pure guess I think it's 1980s. It looks a lot like this one I pulled from the web...

If original burner probably a OF 7 cooker
With bits of lose metal landing on burner it could well be a solid fuel to oil conversion there are many about.
I'm afraid best advice is take hot plate of and have a really good look .
The lose bit certainly seems to have had plenty of heat on it.

Sorry I missed this. Yes I suppose it could have been converted to oil.
I will have another look as you suggested, if I ever do find out I’ll let you know…
Thanks again by the way :)
