Just bought a new house, and after stripping out an old secondary sink and kitchen units that were in the basement and then stripping up the floor, there is this round grey plug. There is a similar one that the kitchen and washing machine waste pipe runs into, so I'm assuming it's something like a plugged waste pipe, but no idea why there would be 2 of them.

Anyone able to shed any light on what this is?

As above, there is a 110mm drain underneath. It's either been provided for an Appliance that was never fitted, or something was there, it's been removed and the drain capped.

Thanks both. If we don't intend on using it, is there an easy way to make it flush with the floor so we can lay laminate flooring over it as it's currently standing proud of the floor?

Simple answer, No. You would need to excavate around it and see what you have, if there is a bend or junction under there, it is going to be extremely awkward to do anything with it, and may actually be easier to raise the floor level to suit.
