Hello all,

We recently moved to a new house. We have noticed water being squirted out of a pipe above our garage. This generally happens when our boiler is on. Does anyone know if this is normal or what it is?

Cheers!

If it's only discharging when the Boiler/Heating is running, then it's likely the Central Heating system is 'pumping over' whereby it is pumping water up into the Feed and Expansion Cistern, instead of round the system. This can happen because of blocked or incorrectly configured pipework, it may not be easy to diagnose exactly what is wrong from afar though.

Needs sorting sooner rather than later as it means your system is constantly drawing in fresh water to replace that it's lost, which doesn't bode well for the health of the system.

If it is coming from the small Feed and Expansion cistern in the attic, you need to get someone in who is familiar/experienced with open vented CH systems to be able to check, test and fault find and then repair.
