What material shower tray do i want

Re-doing our bathroom and want a long, rectangular shaped shower tray to make a kind of walk-in shower without a door on it. One side of the shower will be the tiled wall, the other side a frosted glass screen. (recommendations please on where to order a made to measure one)


Whats the best material tray to buy? I dont really want the cheap, flimsy type material (no idea what it is) if anyone over 14 stone stands on it, it flexes

Consider the Mira Flight stone resin base (screwfix)......you get what you pay for and they are an excellent product.

Its what I used ,really nice quality but got mine from online from Plumb Nation which I believe is part of Traivis Perkins..Glass fibre is for dingies where the crashing waves drowns out the creaks

While I'm here, any suggestions on where to buy a frosted glass (ideally in that aqua colour) shower/wet room screen? May need to be a one off size?

Have you looked at on line stuff from Bathstore, for example?
If that fails, maybe a glazier could get one made up from Pilkingtons or whatever - it would have to be tempered of course to make it safe.

Hows best to secure the shower tray in place? Im going with a 1200 x 800mm Mira Flight and its going down on to a board floor

Your shower tray has to be bedded down onto a nice flat cushioning surface with no high spots.
If it was to be going down onto concrete then a cement / sand mix would be recommended but for timber a good heavy layer of silicone will do just fine, making sure that every contacting area is covered.
Do make sure the tray is perfectly level for the drain to work properly, of course!
