Hi I have a biasi 28s boiler and recently it stopped giving out hot water. So I called out a plummer who says that the flow switch is broken. However the whole valve requires replacing as a result of this. Can anyone explain why the valve requires replacing in simpleton talk. Cheers

He is either not very clever or wants to do more than is necessary or there is a very unusual fault.

Its most likely IF there are no leaks and you only top up every few months, that the diaphragm unit has failed and that can be repaired. The internal part is about £9 inc VAT and it may need a gland replacing. We would do that as a matter of course. I would rate it as an advanced DIY job. ( Five spanners! )

We would charge £106 inc in London.
