Hi all

Will soon be fixing a 100mm x 47mm baton to the side of the house to hang a gate from....

Please could someone tell me what size screws/plugs I'll be needing? The gate is quite heavy so i want to make sure it is solid.

Any other tips welcome!

Cheers

Max

a 4 inch concrete screw would do the job. assuming the 100mm face is flat against the wall

Hi

Thanks for that...

Elsewhere I have been recommended 150mm/6" frame fixers. Would you say they would be any better?

Yes, you are right - the 100mm face will be flat against the wall.

Cheers

I dont like frame fixings as concrete screws are so much faster and easier to use. They will work just as well though.

I only said 100mm fixing as if its into a cavity wall you don;t really want to use a 150mm and be right through the into the cavity. Thats not really a problem but better not anyway.

A 125mm 5'' fixing would be better i suppose.
