I cannot decide on how to roof my extension. The extension will be about 8m wide and 8m deep at the maximum. Currently a gable roof, with a mini gable where current kitchen is that sticks out 2m. Want to do under PD, so a big 5m tall gable roof might not be allowed, and might look overbearing. Anything a little bit smaller will prevent any future loft conversion (probably will never happen, but nice to plan ahead just in case).

One idea is go out about 4m with full gable, then flat for the other 4m. This should not affect neighbours light, view etc. as they both have extensions already of around 4m. But, I would like some additional light, so velux windows to the rear would be nice, which means a slope is required..... unless I go for lanterns, but really that is not going to be in budget.

There is the option of a M roof, essentially each room gets its own gable roof, if I make it a hip, I could get one roof window in. Individual vaulted ceilings would look good, but not keen on any side veluxes as neighbours loft windows will look in.

The plan:

Something like this could work actually ...

Would something like this be alright? (apologies for the rough MS Paint design!) At least some of the existing roof can be used...

Ah ha! Just took another look at what the neighbours have done, and one is pretty much like that!
