I am trying to replace this bulb for a lady and tried a standard E27 bulb but it will not fit inside the socket. This old bulb seems to have something like an add on what bulb do I need or shall I change the fitting ?

Its an E27 lamp but you have pulled the thread from the lampholder, likely a ceramic lampholder
