I am planning a garden room roughly 30m square(9.5m x 3.4m) and stuck on what type of foundation/base will be suitable, the room will be split with a section used for a summerhouse and another section for use as storage/workshop. Ideally a concrete slab would be the choice but is also the most expensive and due to location the most difficult to do, could I get away with concrete footings around the perimeter supporting the walls with extra footings running through he middle for more support and if so how deep do the footings need to be? And how high above ground level should they be?
Next, what size timber would be sufficient for the sub base? would 145mm x 45mm be overkill? as im thinking this would raise the floor up quite high and wont help with keeping the building under the 2.5m limit.
The ground im building on is just dirt and the building will be built from timber just over 1m away from any boundary to keep within permitted development laws.
