Hello guys,

I am fitting a new Cistern with Bottom Entry valve and a 15mm Nut to connect the copper pipe.

If it was copper to copper, I would use an Olive at the Bottom Entry joint for the copper pipe.

But the Bottom Entry valve is plastic, so I cannot use an Olive with the 15mm Nut.

What can someone suggest, please?.

Thank you.

BTW you can actually use a compression nut and olive on some plastic valves, as the plastic is relatively soft the olive bites in and creates it's own mating surface. Would only suggest that to someone who's experienced though if there was no alternative as it's a 'feel' thing determining how tight it needs to be.

Tighten the olive, on to the pipe first, but in a brass fitting. Release, then fit to the plastic stub.

I have an intense dislike of plastic tails on fill valves, hence I don't install them, only brass tails, in your situation I would use a flexi ntap connector, they're very gentle on crappy plastic threads.

Many thanks for all suggestions, all useful alternatives.

I have one of those as suggested by Denso 13, and I also have the fibre washers.

Great.

Thank you.
