What underlay is this? Asbestos concerns....

Hi,

I recently had a leak in a artex ceiling that came back positive for asbestos. 2 years previous we did a lot of work on the house. Before the new carpet was installed we took the old carpet and underlay up. Since my concern over asbestos i have read that some hessian underlay contained asbestos and obviously i am very concerned after taking the old underlay up.

Can anyone advise what type of underlay there is in the photos below?

is this wool felt underlay and could this potentially have asbestos?

Probably worry a lot knowing me, however its worth asking as if it didn't then It would put my mind at rest.

As an old plumber - that looks like "hair felt " as was used to wrap pipes back in the day. I looked up asbestos in underlay and was surprised to read that it came from the hessian sacks used to carry asbestos, then recycled. Looking at Hair Felt underlay it looks like that is what you have. No asbestos - but I've been around the dodgy stuff in 2 lofts in the 70's

Dont know about the asbestos, but I've just stripped out carpets from an entire house. They had been down long enough that the rubber backing on the carpets had completely disintegrated where they'd been walked on, and a couple had this same awful scratchy stuff under them.
